Teacher pages on a school website can be very helpful to students and teachers. It makes it easy when all these pages are located on the school website. The school site that I looked at had all the teachers names with a link to a separate page about their classroom. Most of the pages have information such as teacher contact info, assignments, documents, ect. I feel like mostly teachers want to put the most important information on the page so it is always accessible to students and parents. The activity I did for this project was an activity on Lynda.com. This activity was all about educational technology and how teachers can use them on a daily basis in their own classroom. It was very easy to use Lynda.com and navigate through the activity. It was interesting to see all the different educational technology examples that were named throughout the activity because there were a couple that I did not know about. This was my first time using Diigo. I think this site can be very useful for group work or just for sharing information with peers. I liked how easy it is to navigate and to see the information other people share if you are in a group together. I also liked how it can be attached to chrome which makes it easy to bookmark articles or sites. It also was nice to have tools like highlighting and taking notes very handy to you. This was also the first time I had done blogging for a class but it is very similar to discussion posts which I have done in other classes. I think blogging is a good way to get your thoughts out and an easy way to see other people's thoughts. I think for opinionated writing it is a better tool than a teacher just assigning a writing assignment to do through word. I feel like in a way blogging is much less formal and more personal to one's thoughts. When I first got twitter it was for the idea of having another social media account and being able to interact with my friends. In the beginning when we were younger I think it was mostly for fun and being able to see what people are thinking. With time twitter became a very good source of news of literally anything. It is interesting to see exactly when a major event occurs just from twitter. Now, we see a lot of news about current events, political events, environmental issues and so much more. In various careers twitter can be helpful trying to get information out or maybe finding things out. The digital divide is very surprising to me because I knew this existed but I did not know there was a proper term and that this occurs in all schools today. I looked at the ELA standards for grades 6-8. The one that I think I would have the most knowledge about would be the standard about integrating visual information with other information in print and digital texts. For example, this would include some resources to create graphs, charts, or images and implement them within the learning environment. This can also include using word to create some of these things and I feel that I have a great understanding of how to do this. One standard that I think would require me to get a better understanding of would be the one about comparing and contrasting information from sources of experiments or stimulations.
